Who We Are

Picture
When we aren't pulling each other's hair out over what to post and when, we are simply two sisters who are trying to find the humor and lessons in healing from the wounds of life by pointing their compass to all points whole - spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally – and hoping to offer guideposts for others along the way. We have several tabs that you can peruse such as The Daily Sweat, Sowing My Wild Oats, Freeing Sisyphus, Pointing the Compass and AdvoCare.

As you may have read in our posts, we have two other sisters as well. We have coerced the middle sister to offer a medical advice column (she is an Internist). We believe women's health is an important, hot topic and her contribution will be an essential part of allpointswhole. And besides, we couldn't leave out the middle child-that would be way too stereotypical. And our younger, teenage sister will chime in as well with fashion tips and pop-culture highlights. .

Rachel Hovis, MD

Picture
Dr. Rachel Hovis is a mom of 3 who resides in East Tennessee. She is the middle sister but also one of the most giving people you will ever meet. She works as an internist in the inner city and travels frequently to third world countries offering aid and medical supplies to those in need. Here you will find topics discussed that are popular among teenagers, women, young mothers, baby boomers, etc.

Karin Hume

Picture
Karin Hume is a Mississippi girl transplanted to the cornfields of the Midwest healing from the wounds of life while hoping to inspire others to do the same. She lives outside of Indianapolis with her visionary husband Brian, aspiring journalist, teenage son Tayler, and rockstar toddler Chase. When she isn't chauffeuring or potty training, she enjoys having coffee dates with friends, creating recipes out of whole foods, running, cycling, and Yoga. Writing is not only her passion but an outlet God has used to transform her life. She is not only a contributing writer here, but also at  www.freedomunearthed.com and www.ungrind.org

Katie Wright

Picture
Karin told me that I should write my biography, but I find it hard to write about myself. What I would rather write about would be what I was thinking as I sadly watched the credits roll at the end of the last Harry Potter.

“What will I obsess over next?!?!”  That probably tells you more about my sisters and me than any other biographical detail. We have our obsessions. So I prefer to have obsessions for each category of my life.

Music- Zac Brown, Katy Perry, and anything Glee
TV Show- Teen Wolf, Pretty Little Liars, and NCIS
Authors- Rick Riordan and Mary Downing Hahn
Clothes Lines- DELiA*s and American Eagle
Sports Team- Alabama (Roll Tide)
Activities- Acting, singing, running, dance, and playing softball
Movie- was Harry Potter :’(

As you can see, I wil be blogging about allt hings pop culture i.e. movie reviews, music reviews, what its like to be a teenager in today's society, etc

Now, that was easier than I thought it would be. I just described my fave things without freaking out. But I forgot to include things about me, such as my name!

Well, my name is Katie, I’m 13 years old, and I live in the heart of the south: Georgia. Living so far away from family means that I don’t always get to see them. So, I spend most of my time running around town, whether that means I’m hanging out with friends at the movie or hurrying to get a quick bite before piano. But before piano or food, I go to school. I will be going into the 8th grade this year. I’m at the top of the food chain this year, eke!

At my school I participate in chorus, drama club, and track. Because, as you know, those are all my obsessions.

Well that’s the life of a Southern girl, and that’s the life of me - Katie.

Melody Wright

Melody is the oldest sister and quite possibly the most industrious. Not only did she graduate from NYU with a MA in English Literature, she will soon complete her MBA as well, and is an ACE certified personal trainer. She is a single girl who recently relocated to the East Coast in hopes of paying off the ever-hungry beast, Sallie Mae. She works in Finance in the corporate world, but has dreams of a ranch in Montana where others come to learn ways to point their compass to wholeness. Melody blogs at Freeing Sisyphus and The Daily Sweat
